You set up each widget when you add it — you can choose the metal, currency, the period for a chart, the refresh interval and the appearance (system, light or dark).
Android: refreshes every 5 minutes. Android only refreshes home-screen widgets about every 15 minutes by default — we work around this system limit with our own background mechanism and keep your prices up to three times more current than ordinary widgets.
iOS: native via WidgetKit. On iPhone the widgets run as native iOS widgets and are refreshed regularly by the system in the background — without you opening the app.
